My wife and I are expecting our first child and just like most of the first time parents we are excited! Every week we read about the baby’s development inside the womb and in week 19, for the first time in our lives we came to know about Vernix Caseosa. Wondering what that is? So were we! Vernix is a waxy protective coating that starts forming on the baby’s skin around week 19 and stays till the baby is born. It protects the baby from pickling in the amniotic fluid and also from possible scratches and injuries by the baby’s nails. Pretty thoughtful and cool, isn’t it?! We were amazed too. Yet again!
From the time we came to know about the physical existence
of our baby, we have been amazed and stunned day after day, week after week,
month after month! What’s happening silently in my wife’s womb, is one of the
biggest miracles we are witnessing and the best part is that we get to be a
part of this miracle – even if it’s in the smallest, most insignificant way. We
are humbled to see how wonderfully God our Loving Father is working behind the
scenes. We are awed to realize how gentle, caring, loving, concerned God is
towards us and towards our baby. And Vernix was one more reminder and proof.
Can you imagine Almighty powerful God by whose words the
heavens were made, who knows all the stars by name and put them there, to whom
even the winds and nature obey, who can make the blind see, the lame walk, the
deaf hear and the mute talk, who can raise the dead, who has power to do
anything; that God would look at a tiny, powerless, completely dependent,
miniscule 6-inch baby deep in the womb and so beautifully, carefully, compassionately plan to protect him/her by forming this layer of Vernix on
his/her skin!! This thought just bowled us over!
But, isn’t that how God is? A God who is more interested in
our lives than sometimes we ourselves are. A God who is always with us, who
knows everything that’s happening in our lives and stretches out His hands towards us to help, save, protect and provide. A God who knows us completely,
right through all the masks we put up, but still loves us immensely,
unconditionally and personally. A God who says, “Though the mountains may
depart and the hills be removed, but my steadfast love will not depart from
you.” A God who promises to be with us no matter what happens, through all our
trials, troubles, sicknesses, sorrows and pains. A God who says, “I will be your
Father and you will be my child.” Let me repeat it. "I will be your Father and you will be my child."!! And, He means
what He says. Trust me.
So, as a beloved child what should we do? Let’s hope in His
plans, let’s trust in His ways and let’s bask in His Love! He has it all figured out.
Truly the eyes of the Lord is on those who fear him,
on those who hope in his steadfast love....
Our soul waits for the Lord;
He is our help and shield.
Our hear is glad in Him,
because we trust in His holy name.
Let your steadfast love, O Lord, be upon us,
even as we hope in you.
Psalm 33: 18-22
God can’t stop loving you!
God bless!
